Sandy Lake is well known for its fabulous fishing in all seasons. People used to fish from the lake for subsistence in the last century and people from all over Manitoba came to the village to utilize the lake and and its recreational possibilities.
Today, most fishing from the lake is done for enjoyment and recreation.
One great way to participate in this pastime are ice fishing derbies. The Sandy Lake Merchant's Association will be holding their 5th annual derby on Saturday March, 18, 2017.
