Sandy Lake is a year-round recreation destination. We're not just another small town.
If you haven't been here yet, start planning your recreation vacation - in any season. Sandy Lake offers spectacular summer and winter fishing, boating, tubing and other lake activities, camping, cottages, the Trans-Canada Trail for hiking and snowmobiling, and lots of history for those who want to experience the rich heritage of the area. These are just some of the things you can expect from our village.
Summer At The Lake
The village is well know for the lake and the recreation opportunities surrounding it. There is so much to do here in the summer. We're a resort town so expect to have lots to do here.
Once the summer is over, the village becomes quieter. There are fewer people on the lake and most cottages are empty and so is a great time to enjoy more solitude near the water and nature in the area. Fishing and hunting are two main activities in and around Sandy Lake. Getting in touch with nature and enjoying the outdoors can also be done within the village, since we are so close to the countryside. Walking and hiking are at their best during this season.
Believe it or not winter is fun, especially in Sandy Lake and the surrounding area. With great access to the Trans-Canada Trail which connects us to other towns in the region, you can travel by snowmobile and visit the interesting small town restaurants and bars and enjoy the local hospitality. Try something different this winter by snowmobiling and ice-fishing.
